Start with a clear business entity
Your website should make the basics unambiguous: who you are, what you offer, who you serve and where you operate. Clever copy is useful only if it does not hide the facts an AI system needs to understand the business.
Keep core information consistent across important pages and reputable external profiles.
Make your offering specific
Broad claims such as 'solutions for every need' give very little context. Describe products and services using the language customers use, and give important offerings their own useful content where appropriate.
- Name the service or product clearly
- Explain the customer problem it solves
- State relevant locations or service areas
- Include useful specifications, expertise and limitations
Give claims evidence
Recommendation systems need reasons to distinguish one provider from another. Useful evidence can include genuine customer feedback, case studies, accreditations, detailed company information, original expertise and independent mentions.
The aim is not to manufacture signals. It is to make real evidence easy to find and verify.
Build third-party authority
Your own website is only one source. Relevant directories, industry organisations, editorial coverage, partnerships and other credible third-party references can reinforce what your business says about itself.
Quality and relevance matter more than collecting large numbers of low-value links or mentions.
Test the actual customer question
Improvement is difficult if you only test your brand name. Use unbranded questions that a potential customer might genuinely ask, then compare which businesses appear and what evidence seems to separate them.
Results can change over time and between AI systems, so treat testing as measurement rather than a guaranteed ranking formula.
